Get outside and enjoy Cary’s bright sunny days at 29 local parks! You’ll find everything from lakes and boat rentals to biking and hiking trails to an adventure ropes course at the Bond Park. Take a stroll one of Cary’s Greenway Trails, which connect neighborhoods and parks throughout town, or bike along US Bicycle Route 1 or NC Bicycle Route 2. Explore the beautiful nature trails of Hemlock Bluffs or hit the courts at Cary Tennis Park. And don’t forget to enjoy premier golf at Lochmere, Prestonwood, or MacGregor Downs.

Things to Do

There’s so much to enjoy in Cary! Head Downtown to explore local shops, businesses, and restaurants, or to enjoy outstanding events, like the Lazy Daze Arts & Crafts Festival, Cary Diwali Celebration, or the Downtown Performers Series. The Koka Booth Amphitheatre is another popular destination for its numerous concerts, festivals, and events throughout the year. You can find art exhibits and local performances at the Cary Arts Center and The Cary Theater, and professional sports at WakeMed Soccer Park (where the Carolina Railhawks play) and the USA Baseball National Training Complex.

In Cary, you’re never far from shopping and dining or the businesses and amenities you need. Major shopping centers like Crossroads Plaza offer major retailers and department stores, as well as plenty of restaurants. Other major shopping areas include the Shoppes of Kildaire, Waverly Place Shopping Center, and Harrison Pointe Shopping Center. Cary is also home to its own enclosed mall, Cary Towne Center.

With easy access to the Research Triangle Park, Cary offers truly outstanding employment opportunities. But you don’t have to commute to RTP to find work—Cary is also home to a few of its own top companies, like SAS Institute, Western Wake Medical Center, Cotton Incorporated, Epic Games, Lord Corporation, Fidelity, Verizon, and American Airlines.

Local Education

Cary is served by Wake County Public School System, the largest and one of the highest-rated districts in North Carolina. Cary’s public schools, which consist of 17 elementary schools, five middle schools, and four high schools, are known as some of the top performing in the district. Cary is also home to several private schools, such as Cary Academy, Chesterbrook Academy, and Hopewell Academy.

Cary also offers access to outstanding institutions of higher learning, including North Carolina State University, Duke University, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, as well as Wake Tech Community College.
